Kentucky Senate Majority Caucus Leadership once again appointed Senator Wil Schroder (R-Wilder) as vice chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee ahead of the 2017 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly.
“I am honored to again be named the vice chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee for the next two years,” Senator Schroder said. “I am excited to continue to work closely with Chairman Whitney Westerfield to address the critical issues facing our Commonwealth.”
In addition to his vice chairmanship on the Judiciary Committee, Senator Schroder was reappointed as a member of the Appropriations and Revenue Committee and Economic Development, Tourism, and Labor Committee in the Senate. Senator Schroder was announced as a new member to the following Senate standing committees: State and Local Government; and Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection.
“I am pleased to have Senator Schroder return to his role as vice-chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee,” Senate President Robert Stivers said. “As a former chair of this committee, I know the complexity of the issues the committee deals with, and I believe Senator Schroder has done an exceptional job thus far. His work ethic has been impressive, and I am confident he will continue to make his constituents and the Commonwealth proud as we look forward to the 2017 Legislative Session.”
Additionally, Senator Schroder was reappointed as chair of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Judiciary and Justice. He received another new appointment as a member to Program Review and Investigations, a statutory committee.
“I am definitely excited to begin a new legislative session in 2017 with a new majority in the Kentucky House of Representatives,” Schroder said. “There are several bills the Senate has repeatedly passed, only to fall on deaf ears in the hands of the former majority. It will take time for these new House members to adjust, but ultimately, we do expect the recent election to bring positive change that will continue our mission of creating Kentucky jobs and strengthening Kentucky families.”
